SKIN RELATED
IS DERMAPLANING JUST SHAVING?
Dermaplaning is so much more than just a close facial shave. it’s a highly relaxing treatment that not only removes facial hair and exfoliates the skin, but also broadly rejuvenates the face and helps patients turn back the clock.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU DERMAPLANE?
Every four to six weeks
WILL DERMAPLANING MAKE HAIR THICKER?
Dermaplaning does not affect hair growth!
Treatments that work on the surface of the skin cannot affect the root, which is located beneath the surface. This is why it’s scientifically impossible for dermaplaning to affect hair growth. Similarly, shaving hair does not affect hair growth.
DOES DERMAPLANING HURT?
Dermaplaning involves light feathery strokes, you’ll find it to be pleasant and pain-free
HOW OFTEN CAN YOU GET CHEMICAL PEEL TREATMENTS?
It is generally advised to get a chemical peel every four to six weeks. However, if you suffer from acne, there are some peels that you can do every two weeks until you find the expected results.
HOW MANY DAYS AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL DO YOU PEEL?
Peeling will generally start 48-72 hours after your treatment and can last 2-5 days. It is very important not to pick off peeling skin; peeling is minimal and easily controlled with moisturizer.
WHY AM I NOT PEELING AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL?
You do not always have to actually peel after a peel to see the benefits. The actual ‘peeling’ is happening at the cellular level.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU PICK AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Do Not: Pick, Pull, or Scratch
Resist! Touching, picking, or pulling on the peeling skin interrupts your skin’s natural healing cycle. What’s more, you are likely to interfere with the results, increase your chance of infection, and may even cause permanent hyperpigmentation.
HOW MANY MICRONEEDLING SESSIONS DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Most people need between three and six treatments to see results. For younger people, one to two treatments are often enough. It all depends on your body’s unique cellular turnover rate, your age, and how you’ve treated your skin in the past.
MICRONEEDLING WHEN TO SEE RESULTS?
The initial skin tightening and pore reduction can be seen immediately after treatment. However, you won’t see your final microneedling results until four to six weeks after your anti-aging treatment.
WHAT AGE SHOULD YOU START MICRONEEDLING?
It is a good idea to start this type of treatment in your 20’s or 30’s so that the boost in collagen production is more significant. This is going to train the skin to produce collagen regularly and keep your skin looking younger longer.
HOW LONG WILL MY FACE BE RED AFTER MICRONEEDLING?
Redness is the most common side effect of microneedling, but it usually dissipates within 24 – 48 hours after your session. In some patients, mild redness can last up to four days.
WHAT IS BETTER: CHEMICAL PEEL OR MICRONEEDLING?
Both chemical peels and microneedling will improve the appearance of your skin. Chemical peels generally work best on superficial imperfections, while microneedling penetrates deeper to improve more troublesome issues. … Microneedling will reach deeper under the skin to promote healing of scarred areas.
IS MICRONEEDLING PAINFUL?
The numbing cream that makes this process painless is applied on the skin 30 minutes before conducting this treatment making it comfortable but not painful.
HOW WILL MY SKIN LOOK AFTER A FACIAL?
You will leave with glowing skin. However, most facials come with extractions, so some redness may occur.
MASSAGE RELATED
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE?
“Some is better than none.”
“What does that mean? Well, it varies from person to person. If you are just looking for some occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you.
However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to go more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule. Sometimes more frequent 30-minute sessions can be effective until your goals are met and a maintenance schedule is in place.
Frequency of sessions should be discussed with your massage therapist after your treatment when he/she has a better hands-on understanding of your particular muscular issues.”
WILL I GET A FULL 60 MINUTES OF MASSAGE IF WHEN I BOOK A 1 HOUR APPOINTMENT?
Yes, you receive the full amount of treatment time that you pay for. You are not charged for the intake and interview process, or the time it takes you to dress.
WHAT IF I AM LATE ARRIVING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Please arrive on time for your appointment. Time for your appointment has been specially arranged for you. If you arrive late your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. We will do our best to provide you with the services you have booked, but we cannot guarantee the full time if you arrive late. Full payment for your scheduled services will be expected.
THE PRESSURE ISN‘T DEEP ENOUGH, BUT I DON’T WANT TO COMPLAIN. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
You are encouraged to openly communicate with the massage therapist about your preferences and comfort. If anything needs to be adjusted, or if we are almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let us know right away!
I WOKE UP WITH A COLD TODAY. SHOULD I COME IN?
A massage will likely just make you feel worse. If you are sick, you may get your therapist sick and pass it on to other clients that day. Even if you are giving less than a 24 hour notice, we prefer you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell, so let us know as soon as possible.
WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP, SNORE OR DROOL DURING MY MASSAGE?
This very often happens during a massage and is nothing to be embarrassed about. The therapist actually takes this as a compliment. Just take it as a sign you are enjoying the relaxation!
HANDS & FEET RELATED
HOW IS GEL POLISH REMOVED?
Gel polish is very difficult to remove with standard nail polish remover and if you peel it off it can damage your nails so it is always advisable to book in for professional take off at Estheva Beauty.
This involves gentle hand filing, an acetone soak for a few minutes. Your Therapist will then use tools to remove the last of the polish and neaten up your nails ready to go!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE MY NAIL POLISH TO DRY AFTER A MANICURE OR PEDICURE?
It can take several hours to dry following a manicure or pedicure. It is best to wait before wearing closed-toe shoes for as long as possible after your service in order to protect the integrity of your nail treatment . Using Gel polish requires no drying time.
HOW LONG DOES STANDARD NAIL POLISH LAST FOR?
Standard nail polish usually lasts up to 5 days and is a great choice for temporary or short ones off occasions.
HOW LONG DOES GEL POLISH LAST FOR?
With cuticle work and full nail preparation, a gel Polish should last about 2 weeks with proper application and aftercare.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE TIPS & SCULPTURE?
*Plastic tips are placed on your natural nails and cut and filed to your desired length and shape before applying gel.
*Nail Sculptures differ on the other hand. Nail forms are placed at the tip of your nails and product is applied according to the desired length. While the product is drying, the nails will be pinched on the sides to give it more of a natural look. After the product has completely dried the nail form will be removed leaving you with a beautiful and natural nail shape.
SHOULD YOUR NAILS BE ABLE TO BREATH?
The question is actually quite strange. After all, nails are a dead matter, so they don’t need to breathe. Nails grow ‘from within’: they are fed from the bloodstream. The visible part of your nail – the nail plate – consists of dead cells (keratin (just like your hair) and can’t breathe). The cuticle bed and cuticle, on the other hand, obtain oxygen from the bloodstream (and not from the air). All the oxygen that the nail matrix needs to grow is supplied from the blood.
WAXING RELATED
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WAX FREQUENTLY?
When you wax frequently enough, the hair follicles become weak. After several sessions, you will find that they are easier to pull out because the follicle cannot hang onto the root as strongly. Eventually, some of the follicles will become altered to the point of not being able to produce hairs.
HOW LONG DOES A WAX LAST?
While it depends on many factors, results from waxing can last up to 6 weeks. However, this doesn’t mean you’re hair-free for this long. You’ll probably start to see new hair growth around 3 to 4 weeks.
WHAT IS THE IDEAL HAIR LENGTH FOR MY WAX?
Hair must be at least 1/4 inch. We recommend 3-4 weeks growth.
CAN I GET WAXED ON MY PERIOD?
Absolutely, we do recommend using a fresh tampon just before your service.
HOW DO I PREVENT INGROWN HAIRS?
Avoiding ingrown hairs is easy if you make sure to exfoliate 2-3 times per week. We also offer a variety of products including scrubs, brushes, poufs and oils that can help minimize ingrown hairs.
IS WAXING BETTER THAN SHAVING?
Not only does waxing keep hair off long, but it comes in less coarse and thick. Because waxing pulls the hair out with the root, it makes it harder to grow back. Waxing can be better for sensitive skin. Shaving can cause ingrown hairs, reaction to the metal of the razor, and dry your skin.
DOES WAXING EVENTUALLY STOP HAIR GROWTH?
Waxing reduces hair growth when performed at every four to five weeks. While shaving crops the hair at the skin’s surface, waxing pulls it out by the root, so it grows back softer, finer, and thinner.
